Lessons are offered on either your own horse, or on a Pine Trails horse. California Horseback Riding lessons are taught by Michelle Haseltine or an authorized instructor. All lessons must be scheduled, canceled, or changed at least 36 hours ahead to avoid charges. If notice is not given, students must pay for the lesson.
*Please note that while semi-private lessons take about 2 hours to brush, saddle, ride, unsaddle & put away the horses, private lessons only take about an hour and a half to saddle up, ride, and put away the horse.
New! Little Riders Lessons
We are offering a new option for very young children. We are offering a one hour private lesson for young children just getting started. The lesson runs one hour, including tacking, grooming and riding and is designed to meet the shorter attention span of younger children. The program is designed to suit the needs of children ages 3 to 5.

The following Prices apply to those who need to use a Pine Trails Ranch lesson horse for their lesson:
Semi-Private – Three to Four students – $65.00 per person
Private – Single Student – $85.00 per person
Little Riders Lesson (Ages 3-5) $65.00 per person 1 hour lesson total- shorter lesson for shorter attention spans.
The following prices apply to those taking lessons on their own horse or a leased horse:
Semi-Private – Three to Four students – $45.00 per person
Private – Single student – $65.00 per person

Students will tack up and care for their horse with the help of an instructor before and after the lesson.

At our Davis, California Riding Lessons we teach you to master the basics for jumping, dressage and western horsemanship and trails – Weekly riding lessons are great way for riders to progress towards more advanced levels of horseback riding. Lessons are also great for children and adults who just want to improve their skills and ride for pleasure. We offer both semi-private (3-4 students) and private lessons. We also have classroom lessons to teach important skills like safe falling, terminology, biomechanics of a good seat, and much more.
Basic Precepts - We offer lesson horses with extensive training for all levels of riders.

- Physical Fitness. We help riders develop balance, core strength, and flexibility.

In bad weather we hold off the horse lessons that are designed to help improve your horsemanship. We have lessons in safe falling, how to mount correctly and safely, leg wrapping for shows and injury, first aide, how bits work and what are other options, how to fit your saddle correctly, and much more.
