   Pine Trails Ranch Summer Horse Camps has programs for Ages 7 to 16 with all levels of experience from beginners to advanced riders. Campers receive daily instruction, both on horseback and around horses, learning proper etiquette, safety, and care of the animals.

   Daily worksheet and exercises in the camp activities book help the kids learn about horses and provide a keepsake after the camp is over.

   Each session has a limited number of students to ensure plenty of personal attention. There is room for 5-6 riders per week in beginner or advanced beginner camps, and 6-7 riders per week in the intermediate and advanced intermediate camps. Campers are exposed to English and Western styles of riding with the choice to ride either way. Most of all, the camps are designed to be fun and educational at the same time.

   Each summer camp session is Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Campers should be dropped of by 9:00 AM and must be picked up by 5:00 PM. The cost for a one week session of day camps is $250.

   All counselors are adults and have both extensive experience teaching and with horses. Pine Trails Ranch provides well trained horse who have experience working with children and novices. Pine Trails Ranch also provides excellent facilities including a Covered Arena, Large Outdoor Arena, Riding Trails, and Air Conditioned Room for non-riding activities during the summer heat.

2009 Summer Camp

   Each Summer Camp in 2009 - $250 per week. $10 off for additional weeks or siblings. There is a $50 deposit to hold the space for your child. You pay the remainder on the first day. Space is limited. Sign up early. Deposit will be refunded only if someone else can fill the spot.


June 15- Beginners- For kids who are new to riding and horse care. They will learn to groom their horse, tack up, and to ride at the walk and trot. They will also learn to bathe their horse, the parts of the horse, colors, markings, and about english and western tack and how it's used and maintained. They will also learn about the basic needs of their horse including feed, foot care, and vet care.

June 22- Advanced Beginners- For kids who have done some riding. They will continue to learn care of the horse and to ride at the walk, trot, and some cantering or loping. They will learn all the things taught in the beginners class as well as cost of horse ownership and ways to ride and be with horses without owning a horse

June 29 - Low Intermediate- For kids ready to canter and lope. The students will be working on trotting pole courses, small jumps, and trail obstacles and good control at the lope or canter. They will also continue to build on their horse knowledge by learning about the conformation of the horse and what can happen when the parts don't go together right. They learn that some horses have limitations, but can have a happy life if we respect that. They will also learn about types of shoes and why some horses need different shoes or others don't need any. The students will also learn about basic first aid and how to bandage a horse and much more.

July 13- Advanced Beginner

July 20-low Intermediate

July 27 - Advanced Intermediate - For kids who want to canter a jump. We will be working on good balance and control over jumps and obstacles. The students will also learn about horse lameness and how to select a horse that should be sound for the type of riding they would like to do. They will also learn about how to keep a horse fit and presentable for competition or strenuous riding. The studuents will also learn about horse careers and hobbies that they might enjoy such as search and rescue,equine rehabilitation,and others.
